ReflectionWoa Nelly! When I started this project back in May, I have no idea it would explode in the ways it has. When we started, we were 5 people strong (myself included) and I thought, "five... five is a good solid number." Within two weeks, we had grown to 20, then 30 and now we stand at near 70 strong! I am so flattered and in awe of all of you who have joined us and I first want to say thank you for going on this journey with me. Writing letters and sending snail mail is a passion of mine that began in childhood, was forgotten in adolescence, and has re-emerged in adulthood. Personally, I send at least 2 cards a week (through #latinsnailmail) and have 6 other penpals around the world with whom I exchange letters and happy mail. There is nothing that makes my day like going to the mailbox and finding a letter, card, or little box. And now, here we are. Right now Latin teachers are meeting in Montana for the American Classical League's annual conference. I regret that I am not there an cannot put faces to some of the names I've learned through this project. That being said, I am continuing to write cards and am sending off two more this week! Our Current StatsAt the end of this post, you will find a survey. It is relatively short and I hope to be able to give you all some more solid statistics when it comes to our little project. I would ask though that before you take the quiz, you read this post as in the next section I will talk about where I plan to take us from here. Right now here is what I know:
Where do we go.... from here?Oh the places we could go... I have quite a few plans for #latinsnailmail and I hope that it continues to grow! A few things to bear in mind as we consider the next steps:
In Conclusion...THANK YOU ALL! :) Click the button below to take the survey... and keep sending postcards!

I have to say, I really appreciate the work you put into this-- not a few times have I thought, "Is this overwhelming Miriam? I hope she isn't hiding under a blanket because she feels like she has to tend to the 80 hashtags that popped up today with Latinsnailmail." Because honestly? I would be overwhelmed. At any rate, thank you for doing this because I have always been really into mail-- in fact, my parents saved all of my letters from college and living abroad (they didn't have an email until very late in the game) and those letters now fill two gigantic rubbermaid bins in my attic-- it turns out, I now have a hand-written record to pass onto my children of my young life. It's really great to have a physical object to hold that connects us to another person, and to feel connected to and to connect with all of these amazing Latin teachers has been so good for my soul. The actual, physical card with their own Latin writing feels akin to walking up to one another in person and giving a high five and a secret handshake. Thanks for all you are doing for our community!

Honestly? I do find it overwhelming sometimes, but also wonderful! I love seeing where the postcards end up and who is getting them! Everything you say is so true! My parents kept their letters in college and we found my grandfather's letters to my grandma in the war and it was so special to have that. I am excited to be building a collection for all of us!

Our BeginningsThis came to me as a passion project while I was writing postcards in English across the world. One of the receivers had asked for a sentence in my language of choice and, of course, I sent one in Latin. It got me thinking, why couldn't we do this in Latin too? Check us out and join us!
